Conservation Planning and
Implementation
Broadscale Conservation Planning County of Riverside
The Dangermond Group's conservation planning efforts with the County of Riverside has occurred in 3 stages beginning in 1990.
First Multi-species Habitat Conservation Planning Process In 1990 The Dangermond Group was commissioned by the County of Riverside to help develop an integrated multi-species reserve and wildlife corridor system plan to conserve biodiversity through protection of sensitive habitats and species in the county. The first of its kind in the nation, this multi-faceted project included a broad range of activities including gathering available biological information, land planning strategies, land acquisition/ financing issues and multi-agency interactions, resulting in a single comprehensive planning document.
CETAP Transportation Planning
In 1999, The Dangermond Group was asked again to assist the County with a strategic planning effort aimed at alleviating declining traffic conditions and air quality in Western Riverside County. What set this effort apart was an approach that integrated habitat mitigation considerations proactively into the planning process.
RCIP Riverside County Integrated Plan
The Dangermond Group help guide Riverside County through the initial planning stages for the CETAP process which ultimately contributed to the formulation of an even broader planning effort that integrated the County's required General Plan Update, the CETAP transportation planning process and a Multi-species Habitat Conservation Plan. Besides helping to launch the RCIP planning effort TDG conducted analyzes and formulated policies pertaining to the public interface with and use of the created habitat lands.
