The land ethic simply enlarges the boundaries of the community to include
soils, waters, plants and animals, or collectively: the land

Strategic Planning

California Legacy Project

The Legacy Project is a continuing statewide Resources Agency initiative that involved a wide spectrum of public agencies and private citizens, and conservation groups working together to develop a long term coordinated vision and strategic approach to conserving California's landscapes and natural legacy. This initiative focused on the development of a suite of tools and maps, the California Digital Conservation Atlas, to help make important decisions about conserving and protecting California's natural resources.

The Dangermond Group conducted comparative studies for the Legacy Project to identify potential models for comprehensive conservation inventory programs. These inventory programs are unique in that for the first time, an inventory database encompasses the entire state.

We provided strategic support for Legacy's spotlight on conservation: a series of nine, bio-regionally based outreach workshops intended to engage and solicit input from people and organizations involved with land/resource management and conservation.

The Dangermond Group also helped coordinate and provided strategic support for the development of methodologies for determining the optimum conservation-based criteria from the Legacy Regional Workshops.
