Master Planning
Diamond Valley Reservoir Master Plan County of Riverside
The Diamond Valley Project, constructed by The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, created southern California's largest lake at 4,500 surface acres. As the lead recreation and master land use planner, The Dangermond Group worked with and coordinated multiple technical consultants to produce the state-of-the-art recreation facility master plan for the next millennium.
The planned park and recreation amenities and associated resort development will serve more visitors with a greater variety of recreation options and attractions than any other freshwater lake in southern California. The combination of a 4,500 acre reservoir, over 1,800 acres of developed park and resort recreation and the 20,000 acre wildland reserve will create an immense recreation complex that is projected to accommodate over 2 million visitors annually. Its unique mix of uses are planned to be both self supporting and provide a return on investment to Metropolitan.
